Q. What is a settle mat?
A settle mat is a mat your dog learns to treat as their own spot — a place to lie down and relax. Because it looks, feels and smells familiar, it helps your dog feel at home in new places like cafés, hotels or a friend's house. Read more: What Is a Settle Mat?

Q. How do I teach my dog to use a settle mat?
Start at home. Put the mat down, reward your dog with a treat when they step on or lie down on it, and keep sessions short. Once they relax on it at home, bring it on outings so it becomes their familiar spot everywhere.

Q. Which side goes up?
Either one. The fleece side is soft and cozy; the cotton side is smoother and lighter.
